Summary
A review of the Xen project and a demo of XenSource's XenEnterprise product
Abstract
This presentation will briefly review XenSource, the Xen project, paravirtualization and the Xen hypervisor before introducing XenEnterprise and demonstrating the product and its features including an overview of VM lifecycle management, iSCSI SAN support, multi-processor support for scalable virtualization and other multi-threaded and compute-intensive applications, and easy-to-use management controls of CPU, disk and Network resources.
The demo will also highlight new features of XenEnterprise 4.0, including:
- Live Migration with XenMotion - allowing users to move a running guest VM to another host with virtually no service interruption
- Dymanic Resource Management within XenResourcePools - resulting in the ability to add new computing and storage resources in an automated fashion from a single console with no downtime
- Integration Empowerment - including a secure, remoteable XenAPI offering upwards compatibility from open source Xen; ‘xe’ CLI for fine-grained system control; SDK and DDK VM appliances; and, storage back-end SR API for vendor-specific enhanced functionality
Bio
Rich Persaud is a systems engineer at XenSource, where he supports business development activities and technology partners. Prior to XenSource, Rich worked at SIAC, the Technology Services division of the New York Stock Exchange. He has more than 10 years of consulting experience in a variety of engineering roles, with clients including AT&T, Concur Technologies, IBM, Northpoint Communications, Sybase and Sun Microsystems.
